We are proud to introduce James Michael Wilson as the beneficiary of the 6th Annual Hope Cup to be held Saturday, October 5th at Black Diamond Golf Club. James is a happy three-year-old from Whitby who lives with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. Proceeds from the Hope Cup will support James’ ongoing therapy costs following selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) surgery. Last year, thanks to the generosity of our golfers, sponsors and donors, the tournament raised a record-high $8,200 for Oshawa's Arya Edwards, a little girl battling leukemia.

It’s been a busy and exciting week! Last week we announced our exciting news of James being accepted for a life-changing surgery called SDR. If you haven’t read that post yet, check it out here.

We have done a lot of preparation and research in what our projected costs are for our journey ahead. We’ve spoken with many parents who have also travelled to St. Louis with their families for SDR and fundraised to get there. We’re so thankful for them! Here are our projected costs:

As our budget shows, we are applying for out of country coverage by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) which may cover as much as $30,000 CAD from what we’ve been told. There is great inconsistency with who gets approved or not (based on the families we have been connecting with).

We have started a GoFundMe page which you can visit here to help us on our journey. Be sure to look to the bottom of the write up where you can also find an option for a tax receipt if you prefer. Stay tuned for fundraising events.

It definitely feels real now! It’s with a humble and grateful heart that we ask for your help to get James this life-changing surgery and intensive rehabilitation to prepare and follow the surgery. Thanks as always for reading!
